OBA 1 Day Meeting Meeting
2012-05-01 to 2012-06-30
Hello Local Beekeeping Association Presidents, On behalf of the Board of Directors of the OBA, I'd like to invite you to a special meeting of the Local beekeeping Association Presidents. The purpose of this meeting is to start a discussion about how the OBA and the local associations can strengthen our relationships and build our capacities to support beekeepers across the Province. The OBA realizes that beekeepers, large and small, are becoming increasingly more interdependent as beekeeping becomes more and more complex. OBA want to ensure that beekeepers across the Province have the information and resources that they need to be successful and responsible, and we recognize the essential role that the local associations play in making this happen. OBA see this meeting as a hands-on opportunity for us to work together to develop long-term strategies to build skills and resources, to improve communications and to generate support for important issues facing the industry and beekeeping in general. The OBA board will take this opportunity to share the results of our recent beekeeper survey, as well as our progress on the strategic planning process that is currently underway. We'd like to hear from you about what you need to be effective in your roles and how you can contribute to the success of the OBA's vision and goals. This one-day, 10am to 4pm meeting will be held at the OBA offices located at Country Heritage Park, in Milton on either Saturday, June 23 or Monday, June 25, depending on your availability and preference of date. You are encouraged to bring one or two of your executive members. Those who will require overnight accommodations or flights will be reimbursed if required. OBA Admin can assist with those arrangement if required. Once the date has been determined, you will be asked to forward the names of everyone attending. We will be sending you a final agenda and possibly some reading materials and some advance questions for you to think about. OBA hope that you will find the time during this very busy season to be a part of this important meeting. Please let us know if you have any questions. We would like an indication of your preference for a date by May 11 to allow us to notify all of you of the final date so that you can make arrangements. We are looking forward to seeing you in June. Yours, John VanAlten, President Ontario Beekeepers’ Association
